Existing Brand, Generic Label or Your Own Brand?
Define the label route before comparing bottled oil offers, and keep an unbranded product label distinct from a completely unlabelled bottle.
Start by choosing the label route you want to discuss: a supplier’s existing brand, a generic product label without a consumer brand, or customer-owned private label artwork. These routes have different approval questions. A generic label still contains product information; it is not the same as a bottle with no label.
1. Buying under an existing brand
An existing-brand enquiry asks about a product sold using an already established brand identity and artwork. Ask which brand and product versions are available, who owns the brand and what authorization applies to the proposed destination and sales channel. A brand logo appearing in an old photograph is not enough to establish your right to resell or reproduce it.
Confirm the exact label language, bottle size, product identity and outer packaging proposed for your order. Historical artwork may not match a current offer. PanPan Aroma reviews existing-brand supply options against the relevant product and authorization records; this article does not announce a fixed list of available brands.
- Brand name, owner and proposed sales channel
- Exact product and artwork version
- Availability, authorization and market review questions
2. Using a generic product label
A generic or unbranded product label can show the product name and other agreed information without a prominent consumer brand. Ask to see the full label rather than only the front of the bottle. Confirm what information it includes and whether the selected version can be used for your project.
Keep three separate questions in the brief: whether a consumer brand appears, whether a product-information label is applied and whether an outer carton is included. A completely unlabelled bottle is a different request. Neither the absence of a logo nor a plain design establishes that a product is ready for sale in a destination market.
- Generic label artwork and language
- Required product and traceability information
- Bottle, closure and outer-pack scope
3. Developing customer-owned private label artwork
A private label enquiry uses your own brand and an agreed product and packaging specification. Share the brand assets you are authorized to use, the bottle or packaging direction and the languages required. Define who supplies each part of the artwork and who approves it.
Request the correct print area or dieline before finalizing the design. Keep the product specification, ingredient information, label copy and artwork version connected. Claims and destination-market requirements need review for the actual product. A design approval should not silently become approval of an unreviewed formula or a different label statement.
Confirm minimum quantities, sample stages, print setup costs and timing for the selected components. These are quoted for the project; the three label routes do not by themselves establish a standard minimum order or lead time.
4. Compare offers using the same label scope
Ask each offer to state the liquid specification, fill volume, bottle, closure, label, carton and assembly included. Then list the files or samples that must be approved. A liquid sample, artwork proof and assembled pre-production sample demonstrate different parts of the project.
Before production, keep a dated approval record covering the agreed brand route, product, artwork and packaging versions. If any of them change, confirm the effect on cost, timing and further review. PanPan Aroma coordinates sourcing and partner manufacturing around the selected brief; the final supply route and responsibilities need written agreement.
- Which brand or generic label version is proposed?
- What does the quote include, and what is still optional?
- Who reviews product information, artwork and market requirements?
- Which sample and version will be the approval reference?
Common questions
Is a generic label the same as an empty or unlabelled bottle?
No. A generic label is still an applied product label, usually without a consumer brand. An empty bottle and a filled bottle without any label are separate supply requests. Specify exactly which format you mean.
Can I replace an existing logo with my own?
Discuss a customer private label project and confirm rights to the assets and the proposed product specification. An existing brand’s artwork, claims or design should not be assumed available for reuse.
Can I mix label routes in one order?
Include the quantity and format for each route in the enquiry. The supplier must confirm the available products, component minimums, approval work and timing for that combination.
